Dear FOI,

It should be logged under Michael Swift, and not John Appleseed, as Appleseed was a pseudonym.

Thank you!

Yours sincerely,

Michael Swift

Dear University of Oxford,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of University of Oxford's handling of my FOI request 'Information'.

By law, the authority should normally have responded promptly and by 20 November 2020. However, it is nearly one month over the deadline.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/i...

Yours faithfully,

Michael Swift

Dear Mr Swift,

I apologise for the delay in responding to your request of 23 October. Due
to an administrative error, your request was never logged on our system
and therefore no action was taken. We will now ask for the data from the
relevant department but since the University will be closed from 21
December to 3 January, we will not be able to provide you with the
information until the New Year. Again, my apologies for the error.

Yours sincerely

Dear Mr Swift,

Sorry to come back to you but by 'deferment', do you mean suspension of study by course, broken by college?

Dear FOI,

Deferment is meant as delaying a place by an additional year, thereby getting a two year deferment to the start of ones course.

Ie: An applicant can register in 2019 UCAS for a place deferred to 2021.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Swift

FOI, University of Oxford

Dear Mr Swift,
Thank you for your email of 21 December, clarifying the nature of your
request. I am sorry we have not responded before, but our office was
closed from 21 December until 3 January.
To ensure there is no misunderstanding, I would like to check two aspects
of your request.
First, does your request refer only to undergraduate admissions?
Second, the normal practice for undergraduate admissions is to apply for
entry in October of the following year or for deferred entry in the year
after next e.g. in the 2021 cycle, students applied by 15 October 2020 for
entry in October 2021 or deferred entry in October 2022. When you refer to
'two-year deferments', do you mean those applying for what we regard as
the standard deferred entry (2020 application for entry in 2022) or to
those seeking to defer by two years (e.g. 2020 application for entry in
2023).
Yours sincerely
