Response – Freedom of Information Request – Reference – FOI / 161

Dear Angela Pollock,

Thank you for your recent request for information relating to Advertising
Public Notices which we received on 24/04/18
Please find below, Sheffield City Council’s response to your request:

Can you please confirm where if online and which newspaper(S) you
advertise all your public notices, including planning TROS Path Diversion
,Stopping up Order to name a few.

Public notices are advertised in the appropriate newspapers as per the
requirements of the relevant legislation. For example, Temporary Traffic
Regulation Orders made under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act
1984 are advertised (their proposal notices are published) in local
newspapers as per the requirements of the Road Traffic (Temporary
Restrictions) Procedure Regulations 1992. Usually this is the Sheffield
Telegraph and occasionally the Sheffield Star.

We only publish certain types of orders online and where we deem it
appropriate. At present, there is no requirement in law to publish orders
online although we do publish select ones here:
[1]https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/home/your-c...

Additionally in regard to planning: The methods we use to publicise
planning policy documents (e.g. the Local Plan) are set out on the
Statement of Community Involvement (2014) – this can be viewed here:
[2]http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/content/shef...
.  We have previously included a public notice in the Sheffield Telegraph
when we’ve published draft document for consultation – however, the SCI
does not require us to do this. For all documents we consult on, we
publicise and make consultation documents available on the Council’s
website.

If your Traffic regulation orders are available online and if not do you
have a list of consultees-is it possible to be sent copies of schedule and
plan when they are advertised

We advertise the fact that copy orders are available on request for most
of our orders.

If you have any queries about this response, please do not hesitate to
contact us.

If you are unhappy with the response you have received in relation to your
request, you are entitled to have this reviewed.  You can ask for an
internal review by either writing to the above address or by emailing

If you remain dissatisfied with the outcome of your internal review, you
can contact the Information Commissioners Office. The Information
Commissioner can be contacted at: The Information Commissioner's Office,
