Dear Mr Perks

I refer to the above and your email dated 23 October. I have contacted the
relevant services and now provide the following response to your request
for information relating to services offered to grandparents.

1. What support does your local authority offer to grandparents providing
informal childcare for their grandchildren?

Please find attached Leeds City Council kinship care family and friends
care policy. This policy sets out how Leeds City Council, in collaboration
with its local partners will meet the needs of children living with family
and friends. In addition Leeds children’s centres provide support to
families, including parenting courses and outreach support for
grandparents. The link to these services can be found at
[1][email address]

Information relating to specific outreach for informal childcaring
grandparents is not held centrally. Please contact the family hub directly
for any information.

4. Please give information on the number of queries you have from informal
childcaring grandparents seeking support or information

Unfortunately I am unable to confirm the number of queries recorded from
informal child caring grandparents as this information is not collected
from the query.

I hope this information is useful to you, however if you are dissatisfied
with this response then you have a right to appeal to an independent
officer within children’s services. On appeal, your request will be
re-examined and an assessment made as to whether the requirements of the
Act have been adhered to. Should you wish to follow this course of action
then please address your concerns in writing to Moin Patel, Knowledge and
Technology Team, 10th Floor East, Merrion House, Leeds, LS2 8DT or by
email at [4][email address].

You also have a right under Section 50 of the Freedom of Information Act
to ask the Information Commissioner to take a decision as to whether we
have met with our obligations under the Act.  The Commissioner has made it
clear however that he expects all applicants to exhaust internal appeals
procedures prior to making such an application. Should you wish to contact
the Commissioner’s Office then you can write to the following address:

            Office of the Information Commissioner,
