Infiltration of environmental campaigners

David Hansen made this Freedom of Information request to Office of the Surveillance Commissioners
This authority is not subject to FOI law, so is not legally obliged to respond (details).
This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was refused by Office of the Surveillance Commissioners.

Dear Office of the Surveillance Commissioners,

I refer to the article at http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/jan/12...

Please assist me with my enquiries into this matter by answering the following questions

1) for both Mark "Stone" and "Officer A" please provide the date of every RIP Part II authorisation notified to your office http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2000...

2) please provide the date of any quashings http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2000... of these authorisations you office has undertaken about the activities of these two officials.

Both started their infiltration after RIP came into law so the records must exist.

If you fail to answer these simple questions then it will be clear that you have something to hide and are failing to "provide effective and efficient oversight of the conduct of covert surveillance and covert human intelligence sources by public authorities" as you claim at http://www.surveillancecommissioners.gov...

Please note that "replies" which involve attachments in proprietary file formats are not acceptable. A reply which is not in plain text format will be deemed to be a refusal to answer.

Yours faithfully,

David Hansen

OSC, Office of the Surveillance Commissioners

Dear Mr Hanson

Thank you for your enquiries concerning details of authorisations and
quashings of authorisations in relation to the Guardian article you have
referred to below.

As stated correctly on the whatdotheyknow.com website the Office of
Surveillance Commissioners is not subject to the Freedom of Information
Act 2000 as it is not listed in the Schedule of the Act and as such is not
required to answer questions asked under it.

We are unable to assist you further.

Regards

Graham Scott

Dear OSC,

I note your dismissive refusal to answer a simple question. It is clear that you have something to hide and are failing to "provide effective and efficient oversight of the conduct of covert surveillance and covert human intelligence sources by public authorities" which you claim you do.

Yours sincerely,

David Hansen
