Dear South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust,

A page on your website says that "Infection Prevention and Control guidelines, procedures and policies are available to all staff on the Intranet". Please can you send me all of these documents?

Yours faithfully,

B Sanders

Thank you for your request under Freedom of Information Act 2000.  Due to
ongoing urgent operational pressures as a result of Covid-19, we would be
extremely grateful if you would consider withdrawing your request until
the Trust is able to return to normal business procedures.  If you are
willing to do this, it would be helpful if you could let us know you are
willing to resubmit your request at a later date.

Should you wish us to proceed with your request however,  please be
advised that there may be a delay in providing the information
requested.   We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Kind regards
Freedom of Information Office

Thank you for email.  In order to process your request I wonder if it
would be possible for you to let us know whether there were any specific
infection prevention control (IPC) procedures/policies you were interested
in.  There are a large number of policies/procedures and the Trust's IPC
team is extremely busy at the moment helping the Trust respond to the
COVID-19 pandemic.  It would therefore be extremely helpful if you were
able to provide additional clarity so we are able to respond to your
request as quickly as possible.

Kind regards.

Dear FREEDOMOFINFORMATION (SOUTH TYNESIDE AND SUNDERLAND NHS FOUNDATION TRUST),

Thank you for your email.

As there is no public list of your policies and procedures there is no way for me to identify the specific documents I need. If there are many then it may be simplest for you to publish all of them so that I can search through them myself. Some other trusts publish their policies as a matter of course.

However, if it helps, I am specifically interested in the management of neutropenic patients, both in A&E and once admitted as in-patients on the wards (not just the haematology ward, but on any ward). These patients are at much greater risk of infection than others and I would like to see the policies and procedures that deal with managing that risk.

Yours sincerely,
B Sanders

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding formally to your
request for information under the Freedom of Information Act.  You kindly
narrowed your request to guidelines relating to the treatment of
neutropenia and I attach three documents which I hope will be helpful.
Please note:  Document CG0358 - Management of Individuals with Neutropenic
(Feibrile) Sepsis - is currently undergoing a review however I have
attached the existing version.
Kind regards.
