Thank you for your request for information regarding Incinerator moratorium advice to Council from Welsh Government, which we received on the 25th of March 2024.

Your request
At the reconvened planning meeting of 21/3/24, Ian Robinson, Head of Sustainable Development referred to "an officer did contact Welsh Government" regarding a moratorium on incinerators. Please could the Vale Council provide all documents, emails, notes relating to the advice Welsh Government provided to the Council regarding a moratorium on incinerators with respect to planning application 2023/00032/FUL

Our response
Please see attached.

Please note that subsequent to Mr Rowlands discussion with Welsh Government, they did not follow up with a written response, as indicated in an earlier email. Mr Rowlands advises that it was an informal discussion on the principles of the moratorium and Welsh Government did not contradict anything stated in previous emails which would lead the Council to a different conclusion on the matter of the moratorium.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be made within 40 working days of the date of receipt of the response to your original letter and should be addressed to:
