I write in connection with your request for information which was received
on 12^th December 2016.  Please find below the response to your request:
1. The total number of inappropriate and hoax phone calls you have
received from the period of 1st January 2000 - 31st November 2016.
REPLY: Please be advised that this information is not held in a
retrievable format. Our Operations & Communications Centre (OCC) who are
responsible for recording calls onto our Operational Information System
(OIS) have advised that there is no header on OIS for `hoax `calls, nor a
tag. Calls are recorded under the heading type that the call is alleged to
be about and therefore we cannot search systems for the number of `hoax`
calls made.
2. The total number of people who have been convicted of committing a hoax
phone call offence from the period of 1st January 2000 - 31st November
2016.
3. The total number of people who committed a hoax phone call offence and
were sentenced to prison from the period of 1st January 2000 - 31st
November 2016.
4. The total number of people who committed a hoax phone call offence and
were given a fine from the period of 1st January 2000 - 31st November
2016.
 
REPLY: Please see the attached table for offences recorded between
01/01/2000 and 13/12/2016 where the offence was one of the following Home
Office Class and Sub Class :
066.03 Placing hoax bomb with intent
066.04 Communicating false information about hoax bomb
066.15 Send substance/thing to induce belief that likely to be/contain
noxious substance/thing/create serious risk
164.07 Knowingly give a false alarm of fire to person acting on behalf of
a fire & rescue authority.
 
 
There have been seven court cases. The results of these are as follows:

* Commit To Crown Court For Sentence.
* Community Order, Supervision Requirement, Unpaid Work Requirement,
Victim Surcharge £60, Costs £85.
* Unpaid Work Requirement Hours 150, Alcohol Treatment Requirement
Months 12, Suspended Imprisonment Weeks 52 Months 24 Wholly Suspended.
* Young offenders institution M3.
* Imprisonment Months 16.
* Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, Community Order, Victim Surcharge
£60, Fine £50, Costs £135.
* Imprisonment Months 8, Fine £150.00, Victim Surcharge £100.00
