Implementation of Electronic Prescribing Medicines Administration

In light of the 2018 Manchester University study which concluded that over 200 million prescribing errors were made every year in NHS Hospitals and Pharmacies, the UK Government has committed over £78million of funding for Electronic Prescribing Medicines Administration.

Q1. Has your trust all ready fully implemented ePMA wherever it is relevant and possible to do so?

Q2. If yes, does the trust use mobile devices so ePMA can be accessed at the point of care, wherever it is relevant and possible to do so?

Further to your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the
Act) dated 22^nd October 2019, I am writing to confirm the information
that the Trust does and does not hold. 

 

The Trust does hold the information you have requested. The text of your

o All adult inpatient areas except one critical care unit at Denmark
Hill and one critical care at Princess Royal.
o All paediatric inpatient areas except Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and
Special Care Baby Unit at Denmark Hill.
o All outpatient areas have ability to prescribe electronically but not
fully implemented.
o Day case units not fully implemented.
