Dear Treasury Solicitor’s Department
A response to an earlier FOI request indicates that the Home Office has paid over £75m to T-Sol for immigration and asylum cases in the period 2010-11 to 2013-14.
I am interested in an indication as to how much of this relates to cases where the Home Office was successful at court, and where the courts ruled in favour of the other party.
However I do not know the format in which you hold data that would enable you to provide this info.
If therefore you are able to provide information on the spend on cases where T-Sol was successful in court, and where it wasn't (or where having spent money it then withdrew before the hearing to subsequently grant the individual a visa/asylum), please provide this info. I expect this data does exist for pure budgetary purposes i.e. how much of earnings was due to successful cases (refusal of visa/asylum) and how much led to a visa/asylum being granted after all. Whether this data is provided on an annual figure if you have it, or a grand total is fine.
If you cannot provide the above data, please provide a breakdown of the number of cases T-Sol has represented the Home Office in, in the period 2010-11 to 2013-14, and the percentage of cases where the court upheld the Home Office's decision to refuse to a visa/asylum.
