Immediate Tax on Purchase
Dear Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency,
From 1 October 2014 it was no longer possible to transfer the benefit of vehicle tax to the new keeper when a vehicle was sold and the person buying a vehicle would always need to license it immediately.
Request ... Could you provide the definition of "immediately" as contained in the legislation, or if there is none then how the DVLA guidance defines this term.
I ask this in relation to how a person can purchase a vehicle privately or otherwise and then legally drive it home. i.e. is there any grace allowed in the term immediately?
Yours faithfully,
B. Adams
