Dear Prime Minister’s Office,

I am concerned that the Prime Minister has ordered our armed services into action over another sovereign country without any UN mandate. I am also concerned that Parliament was not consulted before this action, and it is clear that there is a lack of public support for such action. The attack was also authorized while chemical weapons investigators from the OPCW were arriving in Syria, so even before the investigation had begun our government had decided to attack and bomb another country.

1. In view of these concerns, I need the government to provide the legal basis and advice that was taken before ordering this action. The prime minister has stated that it was legal, so she should publish any and all legal advice taken.

2. I understand that we have soldiers on the ground in Syria and that our soldiers are embedded with USA forces on the ground, and that one of them was killed in the last year. I would appreciate it if you could confirm the date when our Parliament voted to put boots on the ground in Syria. Any documents relating to this decision should also be provided.

3. We appear to fund so called rebels and other groups in Syria, can you provide a list of the groups being supported and the amounts of money being sent to these groups, including groups such as the white helmets. An overall budget figure of the amount of funding from our Government to groups in Syria should also be provided (i would expect this budget figure to be available).

This information is very much in the public interest and I expect it to be provided. The government is not above the Law and that includes freedom of information Laws.

Yours faithfully,

james mclean
