18 November 2016

Dear Mr Foulds

We are writing further to your e-mail dated 20 October 2016 requesting
information about EMAS IM&T Infrastructure.

The questions you raised along with their answers can be found below:

1.     What is your annual IT Infrastructure Budget for 2016 & 2017?  For
the 2016/2017 financial year the IT infrastructure budget is roughly
£325,000.  We can confirm that the 2017/2018 budget has yet to be
determined.

2.     What storage vendor(s) and model do you currently use?  EMAS uses
EMC as its storage vendor.

a.     When was the installation date of above storage vendor(s)?   This
was installed back in 2014.

b.    When is your planned (or estimated) storage refresh date?
(Month/year)  The planned refresh will take place at some time during
2018.

c.     What is your estimated budget for the refresh?  This is still to be
confirmed.

d.    What date does your storage support contract end? (Month/year)  This
ends in May 2017.

e.     What is the value of your storage support contract?  The value of
our storage support contract is roughly £35,000 per annum.

f.     What is the capacity of the storage data in TB?  The answer to this
question is exempt under Section 24 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000
and is therefore withheld.  Section 24 of the Freedom of Information Act
(National Security) falls into the terms of a qualified exemption, and is
therefore subject to a public interest test.  It is the opinion of the
East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust that releasing this information
would, or would likely to, prejudice the safeguarding of both Local and
National Security.  This is because the systems in operation are
classified as Level 3 Critical National Infrastructure Assets.

3.     What backup software do you use?  EMAS uses Networker (EMC) backup
software.

a.     How much data do you backup in TB?  Roughly 2.5 TB a day.

b.    When is your planned (or estimated) backup software refresh date?
(Month/year)?  The planned refresh will take place in April 2018.

c.     What is the estimated budget for your backup software refresh?
This is still to be confirmed.

d.    When does your backup support contract end? (Month/year)?  This ends
in May 2017.

e.     What is the value of your backup support contract?  This is
incorporated into the storage support contract that we have with EMC.

4.     What compute vendor(s) and model do you currently use?  We
currently use Dell, Hewlett Packard and EMC.

a.     Number of servers?  We currently operate 216 servers.

b.    What operating system(s) do you use?  We use a combination of
Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10.

c.     What percentage is virtualised?  This ends in May 2017.We can
confirm that 88% of this is virtualised.

d.    Virtualisation platform?  We use VMWare as our virtualisation
platform.

e.     When is your planned (or estimated) compute refresh date?
(Month/year) This is still to be confirmed.

f.     When does your computer support contract end? (Month/year)?  This
ends in May 2017.

g.    What is the value of the computer support contract?  This is roughly
£35,000 per annum.

5.     If you outsource your IT works, please provide who it is with and
when the contract started and ends.  We do not outsource our IT work,
therefore this is not applicable.

In addition, please provide a copy of your current IT Strategy and an
Organisation chart depicting the IT department with contact names and
telephone numbers.  Please find attached a copy of our current IM&T
strategy attached above in the PDF document, along with a copy of the
current IM&T Organisation Chart below.  The main contact number for the
IM&T department is 0845 2206000.

Yours Sincerely

Matthew Williams
