ICPC
Dear ACRO Criminal Records Office,
Does the International Child Protection Certificate (ICPC) include information on prohibition orders or disciplinary actions for teachers or individuals working with children and regulated by the following:
- General Teaching Council, Teaching Regulation Agency - England
- General Teaching Council for Scotland - Fitness to Teach
- Education Workforce Council Wales - Fitness to Practice
- General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland - Regulation Team
Does the ICPC include information on international criminal convictions or soft intelligence (e.g., non-conviction information) from other countries outside of the UK? If so, which countries or international agencies provide this information?
Does the ICPC automatically check for prohibition orders or relevant criminal information for Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, or is this only included if an applicant declares they have lived or worked in these regions?
What type of criminal and non-criminal information is typically included in an ICPC? Are there any limitations or exclusions for certain types of offenses or information from different jurisdictions (e.g., spent convictions or cautions)?
What are the primary sources of information that the ICPC uses to compile its checks? Does this include direct integration with regional databases (e.g., Scottish Prohibition Orders) and international criminal databases (e.g., INTERPOL or EUROPOL)?
When processing an ICPC, are there cross-referencing mechanisms in place to identify prohibition orders or criminal records for applicants who may have worked or lived in different regions within the UK (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland) without the applicant explicitly declaring this?
Yours faithfully,
Kat Everett
