ICO:Transparency in DWP

J Newman made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Work and Pensions

The request was successful.

From: J Newman

25 January 2012

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

On the ICO’s website
(http://www.ico.gov.uk/for_the_public/off...),
it states that the purpose of the act is as follows:

“It should create a better understanding of how public authorities
carry out their duties, why they make decisions and how they spend
public money. It will also promote a culture of transparency and
accountability across the public sector which should lead to better
decision making.”

In which DWP policy document is this message incorporated?

Yours faithfully,

J Newman

Dear DWP Adelphi Freedom-of-Information-Request,

Firstly, thank you - this is the first FoI request I can recall
that has been answered in full first time.

Secondly, the sections in bold are important and the sentiments are
good to hear, but are at risk of containing spin rather than fact.
If information owners have nothing to hide they have nothing to
fear.

Yours sincerely,

J Newman
