ICO Monetary Penalty Notice

Jonathan Baines made this Freedom of Information request to Aberdeen City Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Aberdeen City Council

On 29 August the Information Commissioner served you with a monetary penalty notice after sensitive personal data was inadvertently uploaded to "a website on the internet". The notice says

"[the Council] believes that when the employee accessed the files they were auto-saved to her computer's 'My Documents'. The data controller has explained that this happened because the computer had a file transfer program installed on it and that the employee, without knowledge or intention, activated the program which uploaded the entirety of her My Documents file, including the data which originated from the work email or USB stick, on to the internet...The program placed the files on to a website."

Please could you disclose to me the name of the file transfer program and the name of the website?

Yours faithfully
Jonathan Baines
