Public consultation on the 1994 Review of Schedule 4 to the Wildlife and 
Countryside Act 1981 
 
Thank you for your letter of 6 June to Mr Hounslow and Mr Cotterill about the public 
consultation on the 1994 review of Schedule 4 to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.  It 
has been passed to me for reply, as policy for Schedule 4 now rests with the Wildlife 
Crime, Zoos and Bird Conservation team. 
 
Files relating to the consultation in 1994 are no longer available and therefore, it is not 
possible to answer your question.   
 
As you may be aware, Schedule 4 is currently being reviewed and the removal of all 
hybrids from Schedule 4 is under consideration.  Any changes to Schedule in England will 
be notified to keepers with birds registered at an English address.  We are expecting 
changes to Schedule 4 to come into effect from 1 October 2008.
