Before we can proceed with your Freedom of Information request received on
06/06/2016, we require some clarification from you please.

Questions

On the termination of Humberside Social Services, could you tell me where
the records of this department went?

So far, we have received the following response from one member of staff:

Childcare records came to Hull City Council I believe but other records
would now have been destroyed in line with the retention guidelines so the
answer depends on what records they are wanting to know about.

Please can you clarify if there are any particular records you are
interested in so that we can attempt to locate them or confirm whether
they have been destroyed?

Under the Act we have 20 working days to respond to your request however
the clock has been suspended and will restart once clarification of the
above has been received.

Should you wish to complain about our response in any way this must

Dear Ms McNeil

Freedom of Information Act 2000 – Information Request - 000967/16

With regard to your Freedom of Information request received on 06/06/2016,
please find our response below.

On the termination of Humberside Social Services, could you tell me where
the records of this department went? The records I was thinking of were
the personal records to do with children. I am not requesting any records,
but wish to know what type of children’s records have been kept for
children in care in children’s homes and foster care.

When the four unitary authorities split up, social services records;
including looked after children’s’ records were disaggregated between the
authorities according to which geographical area the child was living in,
i.e. if they lived in Hull, their records were kept by Hull City Council.
We are required to keep records relating to looked after children for 75
years so we still have all of the records that we took responsibility for
when Humberside Social Services split up. Children’s files include
documents such as diary records, assessments and placement reviews but all
files include different documentation, dependent upon the child’s
circumstances.

We hope that you will be satisfied with our response and should you
require any further information then please do not hesitate to contact
us.

Should you wish to complain about our response in any way this must
