Humber Bridge Debt

Peter Jones made this Freedom of Information request to Government Office for Yorkshire and the Humber

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Sir or Madam,

The objectives of the Department for Transport (DfT) include the following:

To sustain economic growth and improved productivity
through reliable and efficient transport networks

To enhance access to jobs, services and social networks,
including for the most disadvantaged

In view of these objectives and the level of the toll on the Humber Bridge, has the Office for Yorkshire and the Humber made any representations to the DfT regarding the management of the Humber Bridge debt? If so could you please provide me with details?

Yours faithfully,

Peter Jones

Stephen COLTMAN, Government Office for Yorkshire and the Humber

Thanks to Alison Biddulph for her reply. Despite saying that she is unable to provide me with the information I requested, she has, in fact, answered my question. The Government Office for Yorkshire and the Humber has NOT made any representations to the DfT regarding the Humber Bridge debt.

I will be writing an open letter to the GOYH asking for an explanation of their role and policies in promoting social and economic development in the Humber region.
