Human Rights compatibility of Finance Act 2008

The request was refused by HM Treasury.

Dear Sir or Madam,

In a recent report, the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights alleged that section 58 of the 2008 Finance Act may be in breach of Article 1 Protocol 1 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Due to the seriousness of the allegation and in the interests of public confidence and transparency, I would like the Treasury to now release all the information it has on section 58.

Yours faithfully,

Peter Thorn
