Huge charges and what did we get for them?

Sheila Oliver made this Freedom of Information request to NPS Property Consultants Limited This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, NPS Property Consultants Limited should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear NPS Property Consultants Limited,

Regarding the toxic waste dump school at North Reddish, Stockport, NPS charged council taxpayers a whopping £550,000 in property fees, but on going through the Council's accounts this year, you have charged yet another £150,000 for architects fees for this ugly prison-style school. Local people absolutely detest it. Please give me a detailed breakdown of these costs.

In addition, although it was widely known (yet hidden) that the site was contaminated with asbestos (admitted in internal documents) when you negotiated the contract with BAM Construction, you said no asbestos insurance necessary and for slowly occurring pollution insurance, you only required 12 years. I know from my work that the cancers that these babies and primary school childen have potentially been exposed to (including mesothelioma) can take 20 years plus to develop. Which official was responsible for this contract, which seems to me to have been drawn up in a negligent fashion, leaving the council taxpayers of Stockport, and probably Norfolk too, potentially facing huge liabilities for decades to come?

Have you decided to put this in your accounts as a contingent liability? It is in the public domain now that you should, so you won't be able to deny knowlege in future

Yours faithfully,

Sheila

Dear NPS Property Consultants Limited,

With regards to the recent First Tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal FOI cases :-

Mr Alan Dransfield - GIA/1053/2011 and EA/2011/0079.

your company resorting to hiding behind allegations of vexatiousness on my part won't wash. Please reply to this request. Should you decline to reply I shall put in an appeal to the Information Commission and send an explanation to every single member of the Information Commission Board as to why this case, with the presumed resulting costs for NPS and the Information Commission, will have to be brought.

With very warmest best wishes.

Sheila Oliver
