HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) proposals

Response to this request is delayed. By law, High Speed Two (HS2) Limited should normally have responded promptly and by (details)

Dear High Speed Two (HS2) Limited,

I understand that the Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) proposals could use some parts of the proposed HS2 Phase Two infrastructure.

Could you please state which sections of HS2 infrastructure are deemed necessary for NPR?
This should include any infrastructure that is likely to be included in the Phase Two Hybrid Bill and should specify whether that part would be wholly funded by HS2 Ltd or via other sources.

What works and modifications are required to enable these sections to be used for NPR services?

What NPR services would use these sections?

What assessment has been made regarding the impact of NPR trains on the capacity of HS2 and the reliability of HS2 services?

Has a minimum speed been specified for NPR trains in order for them to be permitted to use the HS2 infrastructure?

Are any new sections of high speed ( >225kph ) railway required for the NPR proposals?

Yours faithfully,

J Marriott
