Hoylake Golf Resort - 2020 Pledges

The request was successful.

John H Hutchinson

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,
Please can you tell me how certain aspects of the Resort fit or suit Council's 2020 Pledges to its Tax-payers?

1. In principle, how does the Resort suit or fit with the Pledges?

2. Before appointing the Developer, did Council consider the implication of it choosing National contractors for the construction of the Resort and how that would fit with the Pledges?

3. Before appointing the Developer, did Council consider how a large hotel and its golf courses may purchase high quality supplies in sufficient quantities every day locally and, if it doesn't, how that would fit with Council's 2020 pledges?

Yours faithfully,

John H Hutchinson

Dear Mr Hutchinson,

Thank you for your recent request made under the Freedom of Information
Act. We apologise for the slight delay in response to your enquiry and
thank you for your patience in this matter.  Please find Wirral Borough
Council’s response as follows;

1. In principle, how does the Resort suit or fit with the Pledges?

Response: The Hoylake Golf Resort project supports the business category
of the 2020 pledges and in particular the priority to create a vibrant
tourism economy. It also relates to the priorities to increase inward
investment and create greater job opportunities in Wirral.

2. Before appointing the Developer, did Council consider the implication
of it choosing National contractors for the construction of the Resort and
how that would fit with the Pledges?

Response: A contractor for the development works has not been selected or
appointed. The project must receive planning permission first. Therefore
there is no recorded information to provide in response to this question.

3.  Before appointing the Developer, did Council consider how a large
hotel and its golf courses may purchase high quality supplies in
sufficient quantities every day locally and, if it doesn't, how that would
fit with Council's 2020 pledges?

Response: The purchasing policy of the hotel is for the hotel operator to
determine in due course.

We trust that you find this information of assistance.

Yours sincerely,
