How much has Wirral Council spent on going towards carbon neutral since announcing climatic Emergency

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,
Can you please advise me how much Wirral Council have spent towards going Carbon neutral since they declared a climatic emergency?. Also how many tonnes of timber have been felled and cut from our trees here on the Wirral since that date and sold or given for biomass incineration? Thankyou.

Yours faithfully,

Derick Barnes

Dear Mr Barnes,

Thank you for your recent request for information.

We have taken advice from the ICO and whilst your statutory request for information remains unchanged, all information requests will be subject to delays and we ask for your continued patience and understanding in relation to your enquiry.

Dear Mr Barnes

Thank you for your recent request for information. Please see our
responses to your questions as follows:

Can you please advise me how much Wirral Council have spent towards going
Carbon neutral since  they declared a climatic emergency?

The Council has identified an initial budget for climate emergency of
£250k, however this is regarding as a starting budget to ensure early
actions can be undertaken. As part of the Council’s Climate Emergency
Action Plan, there will be fundamental resource and responsibility
alignment to drive actions

Also how many tonnes of timber have been felled and cut from our trees
here on the Wirral since that date and sold or given for biomass
incineration?

Wirral Council holds no recorded information in response to this
question.  Under the terms of the Forestry Commission legislation, felled
timber is measured in volume, not weight.  However as the trees removed by
the Council are either dead or dangerous, they are exempt from the
requirement to apply for such a licence so there is no record of volume
felled.

I trust this information assists you with your enquiries.

Yours sincerely
