Dear Mr Lomax-Hargreaves

I am writing to respond to your freedom of information request recently
received. This request has been handled under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000.

The response to your request is detailed below.

On August 13th 2016, Wigan welcomed its first ever LGBTQ+ Pride event
recognising and celebrating the local LGBTQ+ community. Wigan Pride is
about bringing communities together, promoting equality and acceptance
throughout the borough. Wigan Pride provided the town of Wigan with
information about LGBTQ and services that support the LGBTQ community
locally. Wigan Pride presented a full day of live music, comedy and
entertainment for the whole family.

Pride is celebrating community, showing visibility and strength and to
recognise the amazing progress the LGBTQ+ community has made in fighting
for equality and also recognising the steps we need to take for full
equality.

Wigan Pride was organised by BYOU and BYOU+ (a newly formed support and
engagement group for 18+ in the borough) who worked hard to get support
from local organisations and businesses to make the event happen. Wigan
Council is proud to support Wigan Pride and all of the volunteers
involved.

All meetings of BYOU, take place within a Council building, there are no
building cost’s associated to this.

BYOU+ do not have a building provided to them by Wigan Council.

There is a Deal for Communities Investment Fund round 4 application for
BYOU+ pending, at the time of preparing this response, decisions are
currently being made and have not been released to any groups.

Please find attached - a breakdown of Council Investment into Wigan Pride.

If you are unhappy with any aspect of this response, an independent senior
officer will review this decision. If you are not satisfied with our
response you must put your complaint in writing within 40 working days of
receipt of this response giving the reasons for your complaint.  You can
either email [1][Wigan Council request email] or write to the Complaints and
