- How many social workers are employed as locum? What percentage of the social services are locum staffs in children's services?
- How many social workers are employed as locum? What percentage of the social services are locum staffs in adult's services?
- How much does locum staff in social services cost the authority each year?
- How much is spent hiring permanent staff through agencies?
- How many social workers have been hired as permanent staff in the past year? For this please could you differentiate between the ASYE staff and experienced hires. Also, how many of these hires have been through agencies?

Request for Information - Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA)

 

Further to your recent request for information under the Freedom of
Information Act received on 1 March 2017, I am able to supply the
following information on behalf of Bury Council.

How many social workers are employed as locum? What percentage of the
social services are locum staffs in children's services?

 

There are currently 17 Social Workers. This equates to 7.98% of the
‘social services’ staff.

- How many social workers are employed as locum? What percentage of the
social services are locum staffs in adult's services?

 

5 as at 03/03/2017, 70 current SW’s across social work teams so 7.14% are
Locum

- How much does locum staff in social services cost the authority each
year?

 

Children’s Social Care spent £900,000 in 2016-17.  The amount spent will
vary each year dependent upon the reason for engaging agency staff, for
example to cover long term sickness or covering vacant posts, we do not
budget for agency staff.

- How much is spent hiring permanent staff through agencies?

 

no staff are hired through agencies.

 

- How many social workers have been hired as permanent staff in the past
year? For this please could you differentiate between the ASYE staff and
experienced hires. Also, how many of these hires have been through
agencies?

There have been 23 new Social Worker appointments, 9 of these are AYSE.
None of these staff have been hired through an agency.
