Dear Solicitors Regulation Authority,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Solicitors Regulation Authority's handling of my FOI request 'How many Requests - Legal Aid Non-Mol Abuse'.

1. It is not credible that the SRA do not hold information readily available for allegations and complaints raised against Solicitors regarding Legal Aid provision, and its abuse.

2. As the SRA know, the publication of Grant Solicitor data should be made public. They are fully aware of this at CEO level. Sadly they continue to be controlled by the Law Society protecting their member. This remains of public concern and interest.

As the SRA know Grant Solicitors (Previously one of The largest Legal Aid receivers of public funds in the UK we understand for Family Law) disbanded further to LASPO changes (2013)which the then Justice Minister Helen Grant MP was JUSTICE Secretary, (Now Vice Chair of the Conservative Party) and her Husband ran Grants Solicitors together). She closed her firm when LASPO came into effect knowing the damages such changes would have.. As the SRA also know that many complaints were raised regarding this firm, and indeed in part reached National Press.

It is not appropriate for the SRA to refuse the public the answers to these questions which of course would challenge the SRA's objectivity in their regulatory role, which is perhaps why they seek to exercise the 'right to silence'.

Helen Grant MP was owner of Grants Solicitors, and therefore the matter is very significant and in the public interest to have the facts

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/h...

Yours faithfully,

Mr Elliott
