How many people in 2 bed flat classed as overcrowded.

The request was successful.

Dear Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council,
Could you please tell me the criteria you use for overcrowded properties.
Ie How many people are allowed to reside in a 2 bed flat allocated by yourselves before it becomes overcrowded.

Yours faithfully,

Dear Ms McCarton,

Thank you for your request for information received on 5^th November
2018.  Please see our response below.

In the allocations policy we consider the following suitable:

Bedsit or one bed - a couple or single person

Two bed property – a couple or single person with one child

Three bed property – a couple or single person with up to three children

Families with four or more children can queue for 4 bed or larger

We give additional overcrowding priority for our, or local RSL, tenants
who have children of the opposite sex where one is over ten sharing a
bedroom, where parents are having to share a bedroom with a child or where
three or more children share a bedroom.

We give priority for overcrowding based on number of bedrooms and the
numbers above.  If they are lacking one bedroom they will get lower
priority – for instance a family with two children in a two bed flat.
Higher priority is given to anyone lacking two or more bedrooms, for
instance a family with three children in a one bed flat.

We would also suggest that you read our Housing Allocations Policy, it is
available on our website or [1]www.hertschoicehomes.org.uk

I hope this satisfies your request but if you have any queries or concerns
