How many lottery tickets are sold each week.

We're waiting for Tracey Mills to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Gambling Commission,

Please could you provide me with the number of lottery tickets sold weekly from the 31st of December 2020 to the 1st of May 2021. Then separately the number of thunderball tickets sold weekly from the 31st of December 2020 to the 1st of May 2021.

Thank you for your request which has been processed under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

In your email you have requested ‘the number of lottery tickets sold weekly from the 31st of December 2020 to the 1st of May 2021. Then separately the number of thunderball tickets sold weekly from the 31st of December 2020 to the 1st of May 2021.’

Having completed a check of our records, I can confirm that the Commission does not hold the information you are requesting. We do not receive data on the number of tickets sold, only the sales value in pounds.

The Commission is responsible for licensing and regulating the National Lottery, ensuring the interests of participants are protected and maximising returns for Good Causes.

This information may be processed by Camelot as the operator of the National Lottery but it is not information we are required to collect in support of our regulatory functions.
