How many DNR requests are rejected

We're waiting for Daniel Hillstead to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust,

I would like to find out the following:

How many DNR orders were overturned between the years 2007-2012 that led to the attempted resuscitation of a patient (whether that was successful or not)?

How many DNR orders were overturned between the years 2012-2017 that led to the attempted resuscitation of a patient (whether that was successful or not)?

How does your Trust receive DNR Orders from patients?

Many thanks for your help.

Yours faithfully,

Daniel Hillstead

Dear Daniel

I can confirm in accordance with S.1 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) that we do hold some information that would be useful in terms of your request.

I have listed your questions below together with our response.

I would like to find out the following:

How many DNR orders were overturned between the years 2007-2012 that led to the attempted resuscitation of a patient (whether that was successful or not)?

How does your Trust receive DNR Orders from patients?

Response

We do not record the data requested in question 1 and 2.

With regard “how does your Trust receive DNR Orders from patients ?”, we are taking this to be an ‘advanced directive’, the 'order' would be communicated and followed. A copy of the document would sit in the notes however it is also likely a ‘hospital’ DNACPR form would be completed in addition, to ensure clarity of the situation – staff might not recognise the ‘advanced directive’ paperwork but they would identify a DNACPR form.

This letter confirms the completion of this request. A log of this request will be held on a database held by the Trust.

I trust you are satisfied with our response to your request. Please contact me directly should you require any clarification of our response. Should you not be satisfied with this response and wish to ask us to review our decisions please write within 3 months of this response, in the first instance to:
