Dear Magdalene College, Cambridge,

I would be grateful if you could respect the FOI maximum timelines for answering such requests as a meaningful answer is a dependency for deciding whether to apply on Oct 15 to this college.

Please confirm how many applications were received from and offers made to applicants
from Eton College to read any combination of Mathematics at undergraduate level at your college?

A second question is, of the applications from Eton College to read any combination of
Mathematics at undergraduate level, how many resulted in an interview?

I would be grateful if you could provide the date for the last 3 admissions cycles as a minimum but ideally for the last 5 cycles if possible.

In addition, if you have these Eton college Maths apply/interview/offer figures for Cambridge university as a whole I would also be grateful for that.

Dear Yousaf,

I refer to your recent requests under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
regarding applications from Eton College: “How many applications and
offers from your college were to read Mathematics for applicants from Eton
College”, received on 11/09/23; and “How many applications to/offers from
your Cambridge college, to read Mathematics were from applicants from Eton
College? How many of these applications resulted in an interview?”,
received on 13/09/23. As these requests are clearly related they have been
considered together in this one response.

We received no applications to study any combination of Mathematics at
undergraduate level from students with Eton College as their apply centre
in admission years 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 or 2023.

Information relating to the University as a whole is held by the
University.

The College’s complaints procedure provides for an internal review of the
decisions regarding this response if you are dissatisfied with it.  You
should let me know if you wish to use it, letting me know your reasons for
dissatisfaction and any other matters to which the College should have
regard.  The review will be conducted by another officer of the College
who was not involved in responding to the original request. 

You have a right to apply to the Information Commissioner for a decision
whether, in any specified respect, your request to the College for
information has been dealt with in accordance with the requirements of the
Freedom of Information Act.  Details may be found on the Information
Commissioner’s website at [1]www.ico.gov.uk.

I am assuming that the number you gave in the FOI response includes the applications for maths (from exam centre Eton College) that were placed in the Winter Pool and available for Magdalene College to pull in from the Winter Pool?

Dear Mr Y Raza

I can confirm that the number includes any Winter Pool applicants we pulled from the Pool.

It will not include any applicants who applied directly to us that were subsequently taken by another College in the Winter Pool, or any students in the pool that were not pulled by Magdalene.
