How many accounts has the mayor's Twitter account blocked

The request was refused by Bristol City Council.

Dear Bristol City Council,

The mayor has said that his official Twitter account, which is linked to from the Bristol City Council website, is used by council staff. The mayor posts council related activities and politically related content about his actions as mayor of Bristol.

Please provide the following information about the mayor's Twitter account:

1. How many people have been blocked by that account?
2. From 1/7/2019 to 1/1/2020 any mentions of Bethel or faith advisor in the account's direct messages (DMs) or drafts.
3. From 1/6/2020 to 1/7/2021 any mentions of the Colston statue in the account's DMs or drafts.
4. From 1/9/2017 to 1/1/2020 any mentions of the arena in the account's DMs or drafts.

A user's Twitter archive can be downloaded so you can search through it easier.

Yours faithfully,

Joanna Booth

Bristol City Council

Dear Bristol City Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Bristol City Council's handling of my FOI request 'How many accounts has the mayor's Twitter account blocked'.

I deny the claim that my request for information from a public mode of communication paid for by Bristol City Council is vexatious or a disproportionate burden because I asked to see how the council handled my request. Transparency in seeing how the council functions is imperative to the public interest, and in fact public interest is stated by the ICO as a reason why META requests should be answered: "There is a public interest in increasing the transparency of the request handling process."

I have every right to ask to see how the council and its politicians and officers communicating with the public and in general, and how the council deals with my requests.

The mayor's Twitter account, as stated by him, is part-used by publicly funded Bristol City Council officers. This makes it a public account that can be FOId. You have no cause to reject my request. It should not cause any level of distress to check what a politician does with a public account staffed by council officials. The Twitter archive can be downloaded and searched separately.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/h...

Yours faithfully,

Joanna Booth
