Terrence,

In response to your recent Freedom of Information Request regarding the
TVU Leadership Board, please see the information you have requested
below:-

1) How is the Leadership Board of Tees Valley Unlimited elected or
selected?

As the LEP Board has evolved so too has the recruitment process.  When the
LEP was created the existing TVU Leadership Board took on the LEP
responsibility.  The Board is made up of the following public sector
members - 5 Leaders and Mayor of the 5 Local Authorities, the Vice
Chancellor of Teesside University, and the Principle of Stockton Riverside
College (representing the Tees Valley Colleges), together with the
following private sector Board members - Paul Booth (Chair), Alastair
MacColl, David Soley, Alison Thain, David Robinson, Ian Kinnery, Nigel
Perry and we currently have one private sector vacancy.  Private sector
members are on the Board because of their know / experience of the sector
in which they are involved.  The last time that private sector members
were recruited an advert was placed in the local press and at that stage
we were seeking 2 new Board members with SME experience rather than large
company experience.  Interviews, by a panel of existing Board members,
both public and private sector were undertaken to select the 2 Board
members.

The Leadership Board is currently under review as another private sector
Board member is to stand down shortly and with the introduction of the
Combined Authority it was felt appropriate to review the Membership and
terms of reference / length of term for Board members.

2) Is there any public consultation with regards to how the Leadership
Board is elected / selected? - No

3) Is there a policy which dictates the procedure for electing / selecting
the Leadership Board at TVU? And if there is please provide a copy for
public record. - No as it is currently under review a new procedure will
be confirmed shortly.

Regards,

Sally Henry
