How do you decide which Inquest papers get uploaded to Lancashire Archive

Response to this request is long overdue. Although not legally required to do so, we would have expected HM Coroner for Blackpool and Fylde to have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear HM Coroner for Blackpool and Fylde,

Thank you for your time. I have a couple of questions to ask you to see if you could shed some light on this situation.

1) What is the legal requirement for inquest records to be held onto by your office ?
2) How do you choose which records go to Lancashire Archives and which are not retained any longer?

Looking on the website for the year of 1986 you only seem to be missing 3 reports from the whole year, ironically one of them being my fathers. I was just curious what went into the whittling down process, it doesn't seem to correlate with other years and how many have been made public record.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Grundy
