How did the TV Licensing Authority know my father had passed away?

The request was successful.

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

My father passed away recently and a letter was sent to his empty house (not yet sold or transferred as probate is underway).

How was the Licensing Authority aware he had passed?

Yours faithfully,

Ian Larman
