How did BIS transfer .uk to Nominet?

The request was partially successful.

Dear Department for Business, Innovation and Skills,

Please could you let me know how ownership and responsibility for the namespace .uk was transferred from the government to Nominet and any correspondence relating to that transfer?

Yours faithfully,
Angus Hanton

Dear Department for Business, Innovation and Skills,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Business, Innovation and Skills's handling of my FOI request 'How did BIS transfer .uk to Nominet?'.

As documents already in the public domain since May 2011 via the Nominet employment tribunal of Mrs E Taylor (of Nominet) clearly show that BIS/BERR ex-officials at least knew that Nominet did not have ministerial approval to move .uk out of government control.

See email from Martin Boyle on page 12:

"I *could* remind him that there was never any ministerial approval for N to move .uk out of
government in the first place – that’ll put the wind up… (And DH knows.) But it is a bit high risk".
http://www.that.co.uk/nominet_files.pdf

I can only presume "DH" refers to David Hendon of your department (now of Ofcom)?
