How about, Trainee teacher NQT data request.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Barnsley College should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Barnsley College,

I am writing to make an Open Government request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. In order to assist you with this request, I am outlining my query as specifically as possible. If, however, this request is too wide or unclear, I would be grateful if you could contact me as I understand that under the Act, you are required to advise and assist those who request information from you.

Firstly, from your most recent complete cohort data, how many teacher trainees successfully completed their training?

Secondly, how many of those same trainees were on an NQT placement at the end of their training, compared with how many were not employed (by a school full time) at the end of their training.

Lastly, How many of those same trainees were employed through a supply agency?

I understand that under the Act, I am entitled to a response within 20 working days. I would be grateful if you could confirm by email that you have received this request. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.

Yours faithfully,

Luke Jacobs

Dear Luke

Our courses are not targeted at individuals who are seeking employment in schools in the first instance they are aimed at those wanting to work predominantly in FE or Adult and Community Ed.

Firstly, from your most recent complete cohort data, how many teacher trainees successfully completed their training?

There were 28 In-service students who completed and graduated in the summer of 2016, these are all employed.

None of these are on an NQT year as they are employed as teaching staff within their own organisations and the NQT year is not relevant to our Teacher Training Lifelong Learning qualification, these are not employed to teach children but young people and adults in local adult, community and FE education providers.

There were 23 full-time Pre-service students who completed the course successfully, and therefore were not on a programme such as an NQT year because it is not relevant to our qualification for FE, adult and community education.

There were 7 part-time Pre-service students that completed and graduated, again the NQT year was not relevant for this qualification.

Secondly, how many of those same trainees were on an NQT placement at the end of their training, compared with how many were not employed (by a school full time) at the end of their training.

This question is irrelevant to our courses as they are not school based.

Lastly, How many of those same trainees were employed through a supply agency?

About 80% of our students register with supply agencies as the course finishes as a way of seeking work, they often start with variable hours contracts and after some time will move into paid work on a more permanent basis as the opportunity allows.

Thanks
