Housing out of area

We're waiting for Louisa Jones to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Gloucester City Council,

I would like information about the numbers of homeless households being moved both out of Gloucester and where they are being moved to. I am aware from your reporting requirements to central government that you hold this information but only part of it is released through DCLG statistical updates.

I understand that under Section 16 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 there is a duty to assist and advise the requester and would appreciate your advice if you think my questions need any clarification in order to get the information that I am looking for.

Please disclose the following information:

1. For each year since January 2018, please provide a month by month breakdown of the total number of homeless households the local authority has rehoused in another local authority area from Gloucester For each household rehoused, please indicate:

- the total number of people rehoused

- the local authority area they were moved to

- whether this was temporary or settled accommodation

- whether they were allocated either council / social housing or a private rental tenancy

- Reasons as to why they were relocated outside of Gloucester

Yours faithfully,

Louisa Jones

Your request is being handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
(FOIA).

Please find below Gloucester City Council’s response to your request for
information.

Q. 1. For each year since January 2018, please provide a month by month
breakdown of the total number of homeless households the local
authority has rehoused in another local authority area from Gloucester
For each household rehoused, please indicate:

A. From our preliminary assessment, we estimate that compliance with your
request would exceed the appropriate costs limit (currently £450) under
section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. In relation to your
request for information; having consulted colleagues in Housing, I can
confirm that Gloucester City Council does hold the information you have
requested. However, the Council does not have a software system that
can report on the data you require in its entirety. As a result, a
manual search of the files will have to be conducted, which would
equate to an estimated 24 hours of staff time or £600 (at £25 per hour
for staff time).

The Council does have a duty to advise and assist people to access
information held by the Council so if you wish to discuss refining your
request please contact me on the details below or further guidance on
how to formulate a request is available on the Information
Commissioner’s website.
