Newport City Council

13 October 2011

Good Morning

Thank you for your enquiry, please find attached the information you have
requested.

1. & 2.
Please be aware that in September 2009 the Council took the decision to
not publish direct email or phone numbers for staff but to utilise our
website and City Contact Centre instead. This move helps to ensure that
customers are always directed to appropriate staff and that email
correspondence is routed appropriately. Also, this decision ensures that
any staff moves do not affect the public's ability to contact the Council
and gain appropriate information.

3.
The Council currently has 9 temporary social workers on placement.  These
are provided by Caritas Recruitment, Randstad Care and New Directions
Recruitment.  We have no housing officers on temporary placements.  In
relation to education supply, this is not arranged corporately and
individual schools make their own arrangements therefore do not have
details of the total number of temporary staff within the education area.
The main agencies used by our schools are New Directions Education, Hays
Education, Accent on Education and Teaching 4 Wales.

4.
Social Work agency staff are usually provided by Caritas Recruitment,
Randstad Care and New Directions Recruitment.

I trust this information answers your request however, if you have any
queries about this information or if you are unhappy with the service you

request a review of our decision, please contact me.

In the event you are not content with the outcome of any complaint, you
may apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision.
Generally, the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the
Council’s complaint procedure.  The Information Commissioner can be
contacted at: The Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water
Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.

Many thanks
