Dear East Hertfordshire District Council,

Please tell us the following information about families housing and homeless arrangements. The definition of family is a household with one or more dependent children or a pregnant person. Please exclude information about single person households and households without children/pregnancy where possible and state where they are included in any numbers.

1) The number of families you have placed (household with one or more child) in temporary accommodation within the boundaries of Essex County (please specify the district and postcode area) for the following years:
a) 2015
b) 2016
c) 2017
d) 2018 to date
e) Please provide details of the type of accommodation (your own stock, registered social landlord, b and b, hostel, private unit with shared facilities, self-contained, private landlord accommodation leased to the council or RG, private landlord private arrangement, staying put arrangement, staying with family)
f) Please tell us the number of the above who you had an accepted duty for and the number who were placed pending a decision, appeal or review.
g) Please tell us the number of families placed in Essex who then had the homeless duty discharged without move on accommodation being provided (including those placed pending a decision outcome or appeal).

2) Details of homeless prevention and relief advice to families which has included providing details of accommodation within the boundaries of Essex County or resulted in a family moving within the boundaries of Essex?

2a) Please include the accommodation details (for example address of a hotel, mobile home site, letting agency or private landlord and who the lease is with).
2b) Please also include a copy of any printed information which is handed out with details of Essex accommodation as part of your homeless prevention advice to families.
2c) Please provide information you have provided to families as part of prevention and relief that included information about any accommodation within the boundaries of Essex
2d) Please tell us the number of families who you provided preventative or relief housing intervention for who moved to Essex

3) Details of any social housing which you own which is located within the Essex County boundaries. Please include the District/s and postcode area/s)

2015 – Main housing duty accepted for 9* households – all others pending
inquiries/review or appeal

2016 – Main housing duty accepted for 6* households – all others pending
inquiries/review or appeal

2017 – All households accommodated pending inquiries/review or appeal

2018 Jan to Mar - Main housing duty accepted for 1* household, 2
households accommodated pending inquiries/review or appeal

2018 April to Aug – 1* household accommodated under homelessness relief
duty, 8 households accommodate pending inquires, review or appeal

* It is unlikely that the main housing duty was accepted before their
placement in Bed and Breakfast. Rather, they were accommodated pending
inquiries and the decision was made while they were in the accommodation. 

 

g)            Please tell us the number of families placed in Essex who
then had the homeless duty discharged without move on accommodation being
provided (including those placed pending a decision outcome or appeal).

All those for whom the duty was accepted would have been provided with
move on accommodation. Others will have been moved from Bed and Breakfast
into temporary accommodation within East Herts pending a decision or will
have been assisted to secure alternative accommodation either through the
housing register or in the private rented sector.

We do not have data for this.

2)            Details of homeless prevention and relief advice to families
which has included providing details of accommodation within the
boundaries of Essex County or resulted in a family moving within the
boundaries of Essex?

We do not hold this information – such advice would only be provided if
the households had expressed a desire to live in Essex and would be
limited to general advice on finding accommodation.  We do not have
specific details of accommodation in Essex.

 Not known – we may have provided assistance through the deposit guarantee
scheme to a small number of households who have found their own
accommodation in Essex.
