Dear Rother District Council,

I would like to make a freedom of information request for the
following information;

- Total number of housing benefit claimants within the authority
for 'exempt' accommodation for the current year and the total for each of the 5 previous years (calendar or financial, however it is collated).

- Total amount of housing benefit paid by the authority for
'exempt' accommodation for the current year and the total for each of the 5 previous years (calendar or financial, however it is collated).

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000

 

With reference to your request received on 23 October 2015 about housing
benefit for 'exempt' or 'supported' accommodation, we are unable to
provide this information as we do not identify ‘exempt’ accommodation on
our financial system and it would require a manual search of all claims
for the last 5 years.  Therefore this would exceed the time limit under
S.12 of the Act as the estimated cost of complying with your request would
exceed the prescribed appropriate limit.     

 

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of the request please contact us
within 60 calendar days of this response, if you wish to request an
internal review.  If you are still dissatisfied with the outcome of the
internal review you have the right to make a complaint to the Information
