Housing benefit for 'exempt' or 'supported' accommodation

The request was refused by Melton Borough Council.

Dear Melton Borough Council,

I would like to make a freedom of information request for the
following information;

- Total number of housing benefit claimants within the authority
for 'exempt' accommodation for the current year and the total for each of the 5 previous years (calendar or financial, however it is collated).

- Total amount of housing benefit paid by the authority for
'exempt' accommodation for the current year and the total for each of the 5 previous years (calendar or financial, however it is collated).

I write in regard to your Freedom of Information Act Request of 23^rd
October 2015.  Please refer to the highlighted information below by way of
response to your request from Jackie Aimson, Senior Benefits Officer.

 

Unfortunately we currently have no method of extracting this data from our
benefit system that I am aware of and is not something we are collecting
manually.

 

From soft insight/general experience the numbers we have are more than
likely to be very low
