Housing Applications
Dear Vale of White Horse District Council,
I would like to have information regarding accepted planning applications for domestic housing across the Vale of White Horse Council's Jurisidiction.
- Which company has made the application
- how many houses, how big the houses are,
- what type of housing (social, private)
- When the project will begin
- When the project is forecast to be completed
Also if you have this information:
- If they will be rented or sold
- what building companies/contractors will actually be building the
houses
If possible, it is prefferable to have this information for predicted completed projects 2012 to 2017
If you dont know when a project is predicted to be completed, then a list of all housing applications within 2007 to 2012 will suffice.
Yours faithfully,
Richard Pendleton

Dear Mr Pendleton
Thank you for your email dated 29 August 2012 requesting information on
accepted planning applications for domestic housing across South
Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of the White Horse District
Council's Jurisidiction. I have been asked to reply on behalf of both
Council's.
Unfortunately we do not hold some of the information that you require in
an easily accessible format. We have determined that in order to provide
the responses to questions 2 and 3 it would exceed the 'appropriate limit'
of 18 hours.per council.
Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act provides an exemption from
our obligation to comply with your request for information where the cost
of compliance is estimated to exceed the appropriate limit. Therefore, we
are applying this exemption to your request, however if you would like to
consider narrowing or refocusing your request we may be able to provide a
response within the appropriate limit.
Where we do not hold the information I have provided an explanation as to
why we do not hold this information..
1) Which company has made the application. See attached list.
2) how many houses, how big the houses are?
3) what type of housing (social, private)
4) When the project will begin? This information is not required by
Planning Service. Planning permission is granted for 3 years so building
can start anytime during that period.
5) When the project is forecast to be completed. The Planning service do
not require this information.
Also if you have this information:
6) If they will be rented or sold. This information is not required by
the Planning Service so we do not hold this information
7) what building companies/contractors will actually be building the
houses? Don't know. Planning permission is with the land - one builder
may buy the land apply for planning permission and then sell it to another
builder to build the houses
I attach a copy of all the housing applications that have been made to
both councils from 2007 - 10 September 2012. You should be aware that
whilst a building company may have applied and successfully been granted
planning permission it does not necessarily mean that they have gone on to
build the development. They may have sold the land on to another
builder to build the development.
If you are not satisfied with our response to your request you have the
right to complain to the council. Details of our complaints procedure are
on the website at [1]www.southoxon.gov.uk/complaint. If you remain
dissatisfied, you may appeal to the Information Commissioner, whose
address is Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
Yours sincerely
