Then MP, Mr Salmond received a letter from the House of Commons Library (ref. 98/8/56 EP/rjt) which gave a table showing that based on Scotland's GDP per capita, Scotland would occupy 7th place in the world's wealth league.
Could I please have a copy of said letter.

Thank you for your request for information which is copied below.
Your asked for a copy of a letter sent to Mr Alex Salmond, from the House of Commons Library (ref. 98/8/56 EP/rjt) including a table prepared as a part of that letter. We can confirm that the information you require is held by the House of Commons. We hold the letter and two tables. The first table, containing a list of countries and their per capita GDP, is available via the following link: http://www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers....
However, we have considered that the letter and the second table, which was calculated specifically for Mr Salmond MP as part of the Library’s advice, are exempt from the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, under sections 36(2)(b)(i) and 36 (2)(c) of this Act and your request for this information is refused.
The Speaker of the House of Commons has formed the reasonable opinion, under the above sections of the Act, that disclosure of these documents would be likely to inhibit the free and frank provision of advice and would prejudice the effective conduct of public affairs. In the case of the House of Commons, Section 36 of the FOI Act provides an absolute exemption and the public interest test does not apply.
You may, if dissatisfied with the treatment of your request, ask the House of Commons to conduct an internal review of this decision. Requests for internal review should be addressed to: Freedom of Information Officer, Department of Resources, House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA, or [House of Commons request email] . Please ensure that you specify the nature of your complaint and any arguments or points that you wish to make. If the decision to apply section 36 of the 2000 Act in respect of your request is upheld by a review, a certificate signed by the Speaker may be issued. This certificate would provide conclusive evidence that the exemption was required for the purpose described above.

Dear FOICOMMONS,
The omission of the information that I have specifically requested, "table showing that based on Scotland's GDP per capita, Scotland would occupy 7th place in the world's wealth league." inhibits my ability to vote in the upcoming referendum on Scotland's future within the United Kingdom taking into account all the available pertinent facts.
For this reason, I request an internal review of the decision.
