Dear Madam,

Further to your recent request to North Wales Fire and Rescue Service
(NWFRS) made under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act regarding
fires in the construction industry. please be advised that North Wales
Fire and Rescue Service records incidents using the national Incident
Recording System (IRS) to collect and record details of all emergency
incidents attended and there are no property type/s listed to record
‘Construction or Construction Industry’; however, we have used the
following questions in order to provide you with relevant data:

IRS Question 5.13 – Is the building normally occupied?

Under the answer ‘No – under construction’ – we have returned a count of 1
fire incident. There were no casualties or fatalities recorded at this
incident.

IRS Question 8.4 – What was the source of ignition?

Using the response of ‘Industrial Equipment > Welding/Cutting equipment’ –
we have returned a count of 7 fire incidents. Having looked at each of
these incidents more fully, we can confirm that all of these were not
during a period of construction.

For your information, please find attached a full copy of property types
as supplied by the IRS.
