Thank you for your recent request made under the Freedom of Information Act.

In line with the Limitation Act 1980, the Combined Authority only retains historic financial data for a period of six years. We therefore do not hold data for any expenditure on hospitality in the 2014/15 financial year.

Please note that prior to the Metro Mayor role beginning in May 2017 the Combined Authority did not have employees and all functions were performed on the Combined Authority’s behalf by our constituent local authorities. It is therefore unlikely that any hospitality would have taken place prior to this date.

We acknowledge that this current request for 2014/15 followed a previous enquiry in which you asked for all the hospitality expenditure data since the Combined Authority’s establishment, which was refused as providing a response would exceed the cost limit under Section 12 of the Act. For your information, the Information Commissioner’s office has published guidance on aggregating the cost of responding to multiple requests, including when large requests are broken down into smaller individual enquiries, on their website at this link. Should you intend to go on to submit requests for multiple individual years please be aware the cost limit may still apply.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the right to ask for an internal review, which should be addressed to:
