Hospital Transfers from the Alexandra Hospital Redditch to Worcester Royal Infirmary

We're waiting for Simon Ashton to read a recent response and update the status.

Since the closure of paediatric services, maternity services and the provision of certain operating services at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch, do you have figures for the following:

1. Number of patients transferred from the Alexandra Hospital Redditch to Worcester Royal Infirmary by year since 2016 (part year for 2018).
2. Age of the patient being transferred.
3. Reason for the transfer.

I can confirm in accordance with S.1 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) that we do hold some information that would be useful in terms of your request.

I have listed your questions below together with our response.

1. Number of patients transferred from the Alexandra Hospital Redditch to Worcester Royal Infirmary by year since 2016 (part year for 2018).

In responding with information we make the following caveats:
•Data is based on attendances made to the ED department at the Alexandra Hospital Redditch between 1st January 2016 and 30th June 2018 listed as having an outcome of admitted or transferred to the Worcester Royal Hospital.
•Decisions to admit to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital are clinical decisions made on the basis of ensuring timely treatment of a patient and provision of the most appropriate care.
•We are unable to provide information in response to reasons for the transfer of care (Q3) as information of this nature is not captured separately from the patient care record.

This letter confirms the completion of this request. A log of this request will be held on a database held by the Trust.
