Hospital road safety

ka1957 made this Freedom of Information request to Newcastle upon Tyne City Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

We're waiting for ka1957 to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Sir

I have been told that it is a priority for Newcastle University and Newcastle Hospitals to have safe, separated cycle routes and that both institutions have being pushing for this for some time for staff safety, to reduce CO2 and congestion, to promote healthy lifestyles and to help attract new students and staff. I have also been told that Newcastle City Council has refused to remove parking spaces along Queen Victoria Road and Leazes Lane or upto the Freeman and replace with cycle lanes.

Please could you provide me with correspondence, including emails, dating back over the last 3 years, relating to discussions on cycle routes between and around the hospitals and relating to removal of parking bays in the aforementioned areas.

Yours faithfully,

ka1957
