Hospital parking charges by year since March 2012 - calculations, fees etc

The request was successful.

Dear The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust,

Further to my previous request for data on hospital parking charges #1424, which you kindly answered, I am writing to request a bit more information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I would be interested in any information held by your organisation regarding my request. I understand that I do not have to specify particular files or documents and it is the department’s responsibility to provide the information I require.

If you need further clarification please contact me via this website (or email).

I would like to request the following information:

1. Does the total income from parking charges since Mar 2012 (as supplied in answer to #1424) include fines? If so, how much of the income is from the fines collected? If not, how much money has been collected in fines since Mar 2012? Who receives the income from the fines?

2. Is there a reconciliation carried out between the amount of money collected from the machines and the amount on the tickets purchased by people paying for them? How often is this reconciliation carried out? What is the difference in these amounts since Mar 2012, by year and month if available?

3. How does the Trust calculate income from car parking? Is it the money removed from machines, or face value ticket sales?

4. How long do people typically park for at the hospital? What are the percentages of each ticket sold?

5. What is the fee paid to APCOA for managing the car parking scheme and what is this based on? Is it based on ticket sales or the money in the machines, or something else?

6. What is the income from the parking charges used for by the Trust?

I would like the information to be provided by email as a CSV file, or on this website in electronic form.

If my request is denied in whole or in part I ask that you justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the act. I will also expect you to release all non-exempt material.

I reserve the right to appeal your decision to withhold any information or to charge excessive fees.

I would be grateful if you could confirm in writing that you have received this request.

I look forward to your response within 20 working days as outlined by the statute.

Many thanks for your assistance with this request.
