Hospital admissions for treatment of patients with Covid 19 symptoms
Dear Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board,
I am interested in the statistics used which prompted the Welsh Government to impose local and national lockdowns. On the Wales Government website it states that The Welsh Government met with local authorities, health boards and police across North Wales on 29 September to discuss the situation across the region.
I am therefore making a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
I realise there is some overlap with the information requested by Gareth Howell's on 19th October2020 but my request specifically concerns patients admitted for treatment of Covid 19 symptoms, not simply patients being treated for other serious conditions who may have a positive test result for SARs Cov 2
So could you tell me please in the week before the meeting of 29th September for the three main BCUHB hospitals
How many patients were admitted for treatment of Covid 19 symptoms?
How many beds were already occupied by patients requiring treatment for Covid 19 symptoms?
How many of these patients required treatment in critical care /ICU?
How many patients died from Covid 19 rather than from something else with a positive test result?
The Welsh government decided on the 19th October to impose a new national lockdown as “The number of people admitted to hospital with coronavirus symptoms is growing daily”.
Could you please provide the same information as requested above for each week in October 2020?
The governments actions are ostensibly to prevent the NHS from being overwhelmed. Could you also provide the following information.
For each of the 4 weeks from the last week of September to the third week of October.
How many general beds are available?
How many critical care beds are available?
Are other beds available e.g. Nightingale hospitals?
What is the occupancy rate for general and ICU for any condition?
What was the occupancy rate for the same time period for each year since 2015?
I appreciate your assistance in this matter. The Welsh government must be made to account for the decisions it has made and this information should be available to the public domain.
Yours faithfully,
Helen Cunnie
