Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

I wish to know the estimated cost of the recent redesign of the BBC homepage, either as overall outlay in GBP or in worker-hours, but preferably the former.

Yours faithfully,

John Fellows

Yours was a very good question and well worth persisting with.

This is a typical stock reply from the BBC when faced with an FOI they don't wish to answer, which unfortunately appears to be most of them. They are using journalist exclusion to evade a legitimate question regarding their profligate spending, which should be made available to all license fee payers.

Why not ask the National Audit Office the same question instead, who hold many facts and figures on BBC lavish spending. They may not have the info just yet but may be able to tell you when it will be made available at the BBCs next audit.
